Installation of shatunno-piston assemblies and check of gaps in shatunny bearings

Before installation of shatunno-piston assemblies of a wall of cylinders should be carefully cleaned, the facet, and a cranked shaft is removed from the upper edge of cylinders - is established in the engine.

Uncover first (No. 1) of a rod (see the labels made in the course of dismantle). Take old loose leaves and wipe bearing surfaces in a rod and a cover pure неворсящейся rags - they should be absolutely pure.

Gap measurement in shatunny bearings

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Wipe a back top of new loose leaves and put it to bed the bearing in a rod head. Track that the uvula of the loose leaf entered into reciprocal deepening in a rod. Do not try to begin to knock at all the loose leaf in a bed a hammer and try not to damage a bearing surface, having left on it agnails and teases. Greasing at this stage should not be made!
  2. Wipe a back of the second loose leaf and insert it into a rod cover. Again make sure of uvula hit in reciprocal deepening. Do not grease the loose leaf. It is extremely important, that at this stage interfaced surfaces of loose leaves and from beds were absolutely pure and dry.
  3. Arrange locks of rings on the piston how it is shown on an accompanying illustration.
  1. Before installation in the engine of shatunno-piston assembly place locks of piston rings how it is shown in drawing.
  1. Pull pieces of a polyethylene or rubber hose on bolts of fastening of a cover of the shatunny bearing.
  2. Grease pistons and piston rings with pure impellent oil and put on the piston a tool opravka for a szhimaniye of piston rings. Leave a skirt of the piston acting of an opravka on height about 6.4 mm for piston introduction in the cylinder. Rings should be compressed so that they appeared aflush with a piston surface.
  3. Turn a cranked shaft so that the first shatunny neck appeared in situation NMT and grease cylinder walls with impellent oil.
  4. Having focused the piston so that the arrow (or deepening) on its bottom appeared turned forward on the engine, carefully enter shatunno-piston assembly in the first cylinder, having rested bottom edge of an opravka of the tool for compression of piston rings against a block surface.

Deepening on the bottom of the piston should be turned forward on the engine.

  1. To Obstuchita the upper edge of an opravka of the tool for a guarantee of dense pressing of its bottom edge to the block on all the perimeter.
  2. Start to tap carefully on the piston bottom with the wooden handle of a hammer, at the same time directing the bottom head of a rod on a shaft neck. Piston rings tend to a vyskakivaniye from a tool opravka before the calling in the cylinder therefore provide a constant reliable clip of an opravka to the block. Work without hurrying up and at the first signs of emergence of resistance immediately stop assembly introduction in the cylinder. Find out the reason of jamming and eliminate it before starting continuation of performance of procedure. Do not try to insert at all the rested piston into the cylinder force is it is fraught with damage of rings and/or the piston!
  3. After assembly installation before finalizing a cover of the shatunny bearing, it is necessary to make gap measurement in it.
  4. Cut off a piece of the calibrated wire from a measuring set of Plastigage, in the length width of the shatunny bearing are slightly shorter and lay a piece on a shatunny neck of a shaft, parallel to its axis.

  1. Wipe a bearing surface of a cover of a rod, remove protective hoses from bolts and establish a cover. Track that the adjusting label on a cover appeared the label on a rod is turned into the same party, as.
  2. Screw nuts and, in three stages, tighten them with demanded effort.

In order to avoid the wrong indications of a dinamometrichesky key use a thin-walled replaceable head which will not get stuck between a nut and a cover surface. If nevertheless jamming occurred, slightly raise a head, having liberated it and only then continue a tightening. Do not allow a provorachivaniye of a cranked shaft in the course of a tightening of nuts of a cover of the shatunny bearing.

  1. Give nuts and uncover, trying not to break integrity of the flattened-out calibrated wire.
  2. Measure width of the flattened-out wire on a scale printed on packing of a measuring set. The scale is marked already in sizes of a gap of the bearing. Compare result of measurements to requirements of Specifications.
  1. Measure width of the flattened-out calibrated wire for gap definition in a rod the bearing (track using the correct scale - on packing are printed both a metric scale, and a scale in terms of the American standard (inch)).
  1. If the size of a gap does not meet requirements of Specifications, that, probably, loose leaves not that size (that means need of their replacement) are established. Before coming to the final conclusion about need of replacement of loose leaves, make sure that under their backs in the course of measurement of a gap there was no dirt or oil. Besides, repeat measurement of diameter of a neck. If the flattened-out calibrated wire is wider from one of the neck parties, the last has a konusnost and a shaft needs a pro-point.

Final installation of a rod

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Carefully scratch out traces of plastic of the flattened-out wire from bearing and neck surfaces. Use a nail or an edge of a credit card.
  2. Make sure of irreproachable purity of bearing surfaces, then evenly grease them with a thin layer of molibdensoderzhashchy or assembly impellent greasing. For ensuring access to a bearing surface of a head of a rod and the piston it is necessary to push a little up on the cylinder - do not forget to put on bolts of fastening of a cover protective hoses.
  3. Put on a rod back a neck, remove protective hoses from bolts, put on bolts a cover and tighten nuts with demanded effort. A tightening besides make in three stages.
  4. Repeat all procedure (including gap measurement) for the remained shatunno-piston assemblies.
  5. Important points about which it is worth to remember by no means, the following is:
    • Beds of bearings in rods and covers, and also backs of loose leaves should be absolutely pure.
    • In each of cylinders shatunno-piston assembly corresponding to it should be established.
    • Shooters (deepenings) on the bottoms of pistons should specify forward on the engine.
    • Locks of rings should be correctly сориентированы (see an illustration).
    • Grease walls of cylinders with pure impellent oil.
    • Do not forget to grease a surface of bearings at final installation of covers (after measurement of gaps).
  6. After completion of installation of all shatunno-piston assemblies several times turn a cranked shaft manually, checking it on lack of obvious signs of jamming.
  7. In summary check axial люфт rods (Undressed Removal of shatunno-piston assemblies).
  8. Compare results of measurement axial люфта to requirements of Specifications. If люфт corresponded to requirements before assembly and the former shaft and rods were established, люфт should remain in norm. In case of installation new a shaft and rods the size люфта can leave out of admissible limits. Then it is necessary to remove rods and to send them in a car-care center workshop for machining.
  9. Installation of the remained components continue as it should be, the return to an order of their removal. Additional information it is necessary to look for Heads of Ryadny the six-cylinder engine (the 6-cylinder engine) and the V8 Engine (the V8) engine.
