Removal and installation of heads of cylinders

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  2. Empty cooling system (Head of Control and routine maintenance).
  3. Remove covers of heads of cylinders (The section Removal and installation of covers of heads of cylinders). Remove the inlet pipeline (The section Removal and installation of the inlet pipeline).
  4. Disconnect from heads both final collectors (The section Removal and installation of final collectors).
  5. Remove assemblies of yokes and a bar of pushers (The section Removal, check of a condition and installation of yokes and bars of pushers).

Put all components in the organized order guaranteeing their installation at assembly on the former places.

  1. Operating as it should be, return offered on an illustration 9.16, weaken bolts of heads, giving them on 1/4 turns for each approach by means of a collar until there will be a possibility of their vyvinchivaniye manually. For fastening of heads two types of the bolts differing on length are used - shorter are established outside.
  2. Remove heads from the engine. If the head does not separate from the block, do not try to hook it the lever as it is fraught with damage of interfaced surfaces. Instead put to a head end face wooden whetstone and knock on it with a hammer. As a last resort the head can be hooked for a molding ledge. Lay the removed heads on wooden blocks so that possibility of damage of their interfaced surfaces was excluded.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Before installation it is necessary to smooth out carefully interfaced surfaces of heads and the block. Special solvents are issued - ask in shops of automobile accessories.
  2. By means of a prokladochny scraper remove from interfaced surfaces all traces of a deposit and a material of old laying, then wipe surfaces the rags moistened in acetone. If at installation to leave on interfaced surfaces oil traces, it will lead to emergence in the near future of leaks. At performance on the block of any works cover a cavity where pushers by rags in order to avoid hit in the engine of sawdust, garbage and other extraneous subjects are established. For removal of small garbage from cylinders use the vacuum cleaner.
  3. Check interfaced surfaces of the block and heads on existence задиров, agnails, scratches and other damages. Insignificant defects can be eliminated with a way of processing of a surface an emery paper. At larger damages it is necessary to give to resort to machining (frezerovka) of surfaces.
  4. Banish carving openings in the block a tap of the demanded size. Serially clamping each of bolts a head in a vice, pass their carvings lerky, having removed traces of corrosion and having restored the damaged rounds of a carving. Left in a carving dirt, corrosion and hermetic traces and defects of rounds will affect reliability of definition of effort of a tightening of fixture.
  5. Establish new laying on directing pins on the block.
  1. Establish new laying of a head on each of a banok of the block of cylinders, having put on it directing pins.
  1. Carefully establish heads on the engine, trying not to shift thus laying.
  2. Before installation of bolts of heads grease their carving with not stiffening hermetic of the Permatex No. 2 type or its equivalent.
  3. Establish bolts on the former places and tighten them, at first by hand. Operating in an order recommended on an accompanying illustration, tighten bolts in some stages with demanded effort.

Order of a tightening of bolts of a head of cylinders.

  1. Further installation make as it should be, the return to a removal order. As it was already mentioned in the Section Removal, check of a condition and installation of yokes and bars of pushers, after a tightening of yokes before the first start of the engine let's to hydraulic pushers "settle" within not less than 5 minutes.
  2. Fill in a cooler and replace impellent oil and the oil filter (Head of Control and routine maintenance). Start the engine and check it on serviceability of functioning and existence of signs of leakages of a cooler and oil.

Do not lift speed of rotation of the engine above turns of fast idling until hydraulic pushers will not be filled with oil and again will not start to work silently.
