Removal and installation of a transfer case

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  2. To Poddomkratta the car also establish it on props.
  3. Remove a zanosny plate.
  4. Merge oil from a transfer case and transmission (Head of Control and routine maintenance).
  5. Disunite the electric VSS socket. Remove assembly of VSS/nozzle of a speedometer for the purpose of prevention of its damage to process of removal of a box (Head Automatic transmission).
  6. Disconnect the lever of switching of a transfer case from a rod of the lever of switching (see illustrations Components of draft of switching of a transfer case of NР231 interfaced to RKPP, Components of draft of switching of a transfer case of NР231 interfaced to AT or Components of draft of switching of a transfer case of NР242 of models of 1993 вып.).
  7. Disconnect all vacuum/ventilating lines and plaits of wires from a transfer case.
  8. Remove components of system of release for the purpose of ensuring access to a box and necessary working space (Head of the Power supply system and production of the fulfilled gases).
  9. Remove driveshafts (Head Coupling and the transmission line).
  10. Prop up transmission by a telezhechny jack (it is desirable specially equipped for this purpose - safety chains will allow to fix reliably a box on a jack).
  11. Give nuts of fastening of a transfer case to transmission.
  12. Once again make sure that all lines and wires are disconnected from a box, then shift a box together with a jack back on the car while it will not separate from transmission. During performance of procedure try to hold a box in horizontal situation.
  13. After primary shaft will be liberated, lower a transfer case and take it from under the car.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Having fixed a transfer case on a jack, as well as at removal, safety chains, lift it in adjusting situation behind transmission and carefully start to move forward, entering primary shaft into gearing with secondary shaft of transmission. Do not try to join a box with transmission by force. If primary shaft does not enter into transmission, try поварьировать an inclination of a box and/or slightly повращать a shaft for its combination шлицов with reciprocal in transmission.
  2. Establish bolts of fastening of a transfer case to transmission. Tighten them with demanded effort.
  3. Having disconnected safety chains, remove a jack which is propping up a transfer case.
  4. Establish driveshafts (Head Coupling and the transmission line).
  5. Establish into place components of system of production of the fulfilled gases (Head of the Power supply system and production of the fulfilled gases).
  6. Connect vacuum/ventilating lines.
  7. Connect the lever of switching of a transfer case to a rod of the lever and make draft adjustment (The section Adjustment of draft of switching).
  8. Establish VSS/nozzle of a speedometer and connect the electric socket (Head Automatic transmission).
  9. Check oil level in a box, in case of need make having added (Head of Control and routine maintenance). If the car is equipped with RKPP, at this stage it is necessary to check also level of transmission oil in it (Head of Control and routine maintenance).
  10. Clean jacks and lower the car on the earth.
  11. Connect a negative wire to the battery.
  12. Carry out trial runs, having made sure of serviceability of functioning of all knots. Check knots on leaks.
