Driveshaft

Leaks in a forward part of the driveshaft

Defect of an epiploon of transmission or transfer case takes place. The description of procedures of replacement see in Head Automatic transmission. During replacement check the holder of a crosspiece equipped with shlitsa on existence задиров, agnails and the roughnesses, capable to damage an epiploon. Agnails can be removed by means of a thin grinding stone or an emery paper.

At the moment of the beginning of transfer of load of the transmission line (it is direct after transmission/check point installation on transfer) there is a knock or a clicking

  1. Components of a back suspension bracket are disconnected or weakened their fastening. Check bolts and nuts of all support and tighten them with demanded effort (Head the Suspension bracket and a steering). Check a condition of plugs of fixture (Head the Suspension bracket and a steering).
  2. Weakened driveshaft bolts. Check a condition of all bolts and nuts and tighten them with demanded effort.
  3. Bearings of crosspieces of kardanny hinges are worn-out or damaged. Check a condition of crosspieces (Head Coupling and the transmission line).

At car movement the metal clang constantly takes place

There is a wear of bearings of crosspieces of kardanny hinges mentioned above (Head Coupling and the transmission line).

Vibrations

Before coming to the final conclusion about worthlessness of the driveshaft make sure that wheels correctly отбалансированы, then make the check described below.

  1. Establish in salon a tachometer for fixing of turns of the engine in the course of car movement. During a trial trip watch turns engines and fix tachometer indications at the moment of the maximum increase of intensity of vibration. Then switch transmission to other transfer and give turns of the engine besides to value.
  2. If vibration reaches the peak at the same value of turns of the engine, the reason of its emergence is not defect of the driveshaft as speed of its rotation will be excellent.
  3. If vibration disappears, or its intensity considerably will go down with transfer change, but at the same turns of the engine, pass to the analysis of possibility of existence of other reasons.
  4. The driveshaft can appear will bend or is deformed. Check a shaft condition, in case of need make its replacement (Head Coupling and the transmission line).
  5. Lumps of dirt or anticorrosive covering of the bottom of the car stuck to a shaft. Clear a shaft and repeat check.
  6. Bearings of crosspieces of kardanny hinges are worn-out. Remove and check (Head Coupling and the transmission line).
  7. Balancing of the driveshaft and/or connecting flange is broken. Check existence on a shaft грузиков counterbalances. Remove the driveshaft (Head Coupling and the transmission line) and establish it into place, having turned on 180 °. If the situation was not corrected, make professional balancing of a shaft.
